The digital era and the new Internet with it’s higher bandwidth have recently radically changed marketing. The Internet can now transmit larger graphics, can better stream video and moving images just like TV allowing traditional marketing disciplines to be used in a digital and increasing interactive world. The Internet and websites, search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, Dogpile, et al), SMS (cell phones, PDAs) RFID (Radio Frequency Identification), DVD/CD, wireless applications, TIVO, Intranets, Extranets, touch-screen kiosks, ATM machines, GPS (Global Positioning Systems), eCommerce, eLibraries, blogs, RSS Feeds (XML), touch-screen voting, online gaming, Lowjack systems and many other new technologies allow us 2 way INTERACTION with each other. Soon there will be the convergence of television (65 year old technology) and the Internet, allowing interactive television and relevance content.

This is very key. As options increase individuals will continue to look for WIIFM (What’s in it for me?). They will look for content that will help them, and with search, they will easily be able to find it. Anywhere. Anytime. This is why organizations need to adopt the new paradigms of interactivity through the Internet as a key part of their selling strategy, that is – relevance to the specific need of the individual.

The key to successful marketing is the ability to KNOW YOUR MOST PROFITABLE BUYER, and to provide the ability to interact and purchase your product/service when they are looking to buy.
